What happens to your data

Camera

Video is processed inside your browser by a hand-tracking model that runs on your device. Frames are not recorded, not saved and not transmitted. Closing the tab ends it.

Microphone

If you use speech input, your browser's own speech recognition handles it. On some browsers that service processes audio on the device; on others it may send audio to the browser vendor. That is between you and your browser — we neither receive nor store it.

What we store

No account, no local database. Text you type stays in the page and disappears on reload. Nothing you sign, say or type is stored anywhere.

We do use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get used. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google a record of the page you viewed, your approximate location from your IP address, and your device and browser type. It never sees your camera, your microphone, or the text you translate. If you would rather not be counted, any content blocker or your browser's "Do Not Track" setting will stop it, and the site works exactly the same without it.

Network requests

• The page, its stylesheet and fonts.
• The hand-tracking model and its runtime, fetched from a CDN when you first press Start camera.
• A translation endpoint only if you enter one yourself. Text you translate goes to that server, under its policy, not ours.

Children

The tool is suitable for classroom use. No account is required and nothing a child signs, says or types is recorded. The analytics described above still runs, so a school that must avoid third-party analytics for pupils should block googletagmanager.com on its network or ask us for an analytics-free build.

Hosting

The site is served as static files. The host records ordinary web server logs such as IP address and page requested, which we do not use to identify anyone.
